Quang Nam presents new high capacity offshore vessels

In accordance with the decree, the district was instructed to construct 50 new vessels with advanced equipment. After one year, 49 local ship owners were granted ship-building licences.
At present, Quang Nam has 22 high capacity fishing vessels, of which 14 are wooden boats and eight steel-hulled. The remainder of the 50 ships will be built with funding from credit loans worth a total of nearly 200 billion VND ( 9.1 million USD).
ꦉ Decree 67, which took effect in August 2014, stipulates policies in investment, credit, insurance, and tax incentives in support of fishermen and ship owners who wish to build new fishing boats, upgrade their existing ones or buy fishing and marine equipment. Its aim is to earn fishermen higher incomes.-VNA
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam has urged the speedier disbursement of bank loans to thousands of fishermen in need of modern boats and cutting-edge technology.
A State-owned bank will provide loans for the construction of the first two ships to be built in central Thanh Hoa province under a Government decree supporting fisheries development, as formulated in credit contracts inked on June 10.
Fishermen from the Phu Quy island district in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan are making profit from their vessels built under the Government’s Decree No 67/2014/ND-CP.
