Quang Tri children voice opinions at forum with NA deputies
Nearly 100 children representing more than 100,000 children in the central province of Quang Tri attended a forum with National Assembly deputies in the locality on December 13.
Quang Tri (VNA) – Nearly 100 childrenrepresenting more than 100,000 children in the central province of Quang Tri attendeda forum with National Assembly deputies in the locality on December 13.
The forum aimed to enhance the quality of activities to carefor, protect and educate children, and the exercise of children’s fundamentalrights in accordance with the Children Law.
At the event, the children raised questions related to theirrights and obligations as well as measures to protect them from sexual abuseand school violence.
They also suggested the adjustments of curriculum andteaching methods to reduce schooling pressure on children, as well as supportin building pools and swimming teaching to reduce drowning among children,along with the control of the publications harming children on the Internet. Itis necessary to set up venues for children from ethnic minority groups to learnspecial subjects, they said.
Representatives from the provincial NA deputy delegation andPeople’s Council as well as leaders of departments and agencies answeredquestions of the children, highlighting the principle that the rights ofchildren must be respected and observed. Children should receive due protectionand care to ensure their comprehensive development as stated in the ChildrenLaw, they said.
Head of the province’s NA deputy delegation of Quang TriHoang Duc Thang pledged that in the time to come, NA deputies, the People’sCouncil and administrations at all levels will give greater attention to theprotection, care and education of children, while maintaining and expanding theforum to listen to children’s voice and aspirations.
They will also work harder in dealing with requests ofagencies and organisations related to children, he said.
On the occasion, the organisation board presented 20bicycles to poor students with outstanding academic performance./.
