– A public Wi-Fi system was handed over to the centralprovince of Quang Tri by the military-run Viettel Group on May 11.

This was the result of an agreement on informationtechnology and telecommunication cooperation during 2017-2020 signed by the twosides on November 18, 2017.

The two sides give the priority to six fields, namelye-government, education and training, health and social welfare services,security order, transport and tourism.

After four months implementing the project, Viettel investedin installing 37 public Wi-Fi stations at public administrative centres andtourist attractions, including Cua Viet beach, Quang Tri ancient citadel, VinhMoc tunnel, Hien Luong bridge, Lao Bao International Border Gate, La VangSanctuary, Road 9 and Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemeteries.

Through the 2 billion VND (88,100 USD) system, locals andtourists can gain free access to the Internet to search for information or use publicadministration applications.

It is also expected to help promote the image of Quang Trito tourists, and open up business opportunities for enterprises andorganisations which want to popularise their information.

The Wi-Fi system also acts as one of the importantfoundations to build a smart urban area in the time to come.-VNA
