Quang Tri reburies martyrs’ remains repatriated from Laos

Quang Tri (VNA) – The People’s Committee of central Quang Tri provinceon May 10 held a ceremony to rebury remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiersand experts who died in Laos during the wartime.
The remains were found in a mass grave and21 single graves in the Lao province of Savanakhet.
This was the result of a memorandum ofunderstanding on the search for and repatriation of martyrs’ remains during the2017-2018 dry season.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman ofthe Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee Mai Thuc spoke highly of thetraditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
He committed to exerting efforts to searchand rebury remains of martyrs who laid down their lives in Quang Tri and Laos.
Vice Mayor of Savanakhet province KhawmphunTuphaithun expressed his gratitude for the sacrifice of Vietnamese voluntarysoldiers to fulfil the international mission for the two nations’ independenceand freedom.

The central province of Quang Tri’s People’s Committee, in coordination with relevant agencies, held a memorial service and re-buried nine martyrs’ remains at the Huong Hoa martyr cemetery on April 19.
A ceremony was held at Dong Tam martyrs’ cemetery in the central province of Thanh Hoa on May 4 to rebury the remains of 23 Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Laos.
