🎶 Coast Guard Region 2 promotes IUU-free fishing among Quang Ngai fishermen

The Command of Coast Guard Region 2 briefed the fishermen on the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Fisheries Law, and legal documents related to IUU prevention. Officers also provided guidance on identifying areas under Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction, traditional fishing grounds, warning zones, and prohibited fishing areas.

ꦰ Quang Ngai to remove hundreds of unregistered fishing vessels

To date, Quang Ngai has 5,194 registered fishing vessels, with data regularly updated in the National Fisheries Database (VNFishbase). The provincial licensing rate for fishing activities has reached 81.94%, while 99% of local vessels required to install vessel monitoring systems (VMS) have complied.

ꦍ Urgent actions needed to handle pollution at Quang Ngai’s fishing ports

Although dozens of billions of VND were invested in waste collection and treatment systems, fishing ports in the central province of Quang Ngai are struggling with persistent pollution, not only posing significant ecological risks but also threatening the locality’s contributions to the country's efforts to have the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning on Vietnam's seafood exports lifted.
