A repatriation ceremony for a set of remains suspected to belong to a US serviceman missing during the war in Vietnam took place in Hanoi on September 24.

Hanoi (VNA) – A repatriation ceremony for a setof remains suspected to belong to a US serviceman missing during the war inVietnam took place in Hanoi on September 24.
The ceremony was attended by representativesfrom the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Personnel, US Ambassador to VietnamDaniel Kritenbrink, and representatives from the US Missing in Action (MIA)Office in Hanoi.
This set of remains was unearthed during the140th field activity between July and September.
It was unilaterally examined and concluded byVietnamese forensic specialists that it might be linked with US servicemenmissing during the war. The remains were recommended to be brought to Hawaii,the US, for further examination.
Addressing the ceremony, US Ambassador DanielKritenbrink appreciated the Vietnamese Government and people’s full andeffective cooperation in the MIA mission, pledging continued support for theSoutheast Asian nation in solving war consequences.
The search for remains of US servicemen missingin action in Vietnam is a humanitarian cooperation activity between theVietnamese and US Governments. This was the 154th hand-over of missing USservicemen’s remains since 1973./.
The Vietnam-US relationship has experienced its ups and downs but has overcome a tumultuous past and moved towards a future of cooperation for the sake of both countries.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach.
