Resolution implementation discussed to boost development in northern midland, mountainous region

Hanoi (VNA) – The Politburoand the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on April 15 held a nationalconference on the implementation of the 13th-tenure Politburo’sresolution on orientations for socio-economic development and defence -security ensuring in the northern midland and mountainous region by 2030, witha vision to 2045.
The event, held both inperson and via videoconference, was co-chaired by Party General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham MinhChinh, and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
Resolution No. 11-NQ/TW,issued on February 10 this year, was devised basing on the 9th-tenurePolitburo’s Resolution No. 37-NQ/TW and the 11th-tenure Politburo’sConclusion No. 26-KL/TW on the issue. It reflected the Party’s strongdetermination to make breakthroughs in the development of this region.
Addressing the event, GeneralSecretary Trong stressed the need to thoroughly grasp the resolution, reformthe development mindset, and make the best use of resources to fully tap intothe potential and advantages of each province, each sub-region, and the regionas a whole.

It is necessary to properlyhandle the relationship between regional and national development, he noted.
He pointed out the importanceof promoting proactiveness, creativity, self-reliance, and the aspiration formoving forwards among the Party officials and members, and people of the localities. Besides,central agencies and other localities nationwide should increase cooperation withand support for the region to make local economic growth faster and moresustainably.
The Party leader asked centralagencies to boost coordination with localities and relevant offices in theregion to quickly work out and implement special policies for regionaldevelopment. Meanwhile, the northern midland and mountainous provinces have tostep up reforming administrative procedures, improve the business climate,attract and effectively use every resource for development, and boost all-rounddevelopment in terms of economy, cultural and society in tandem with ensuringnational defence - security in border areas.
He also requested thelocalities to promptly build action plans to carry out the resolution,expressing his belief that they will surmount every difficulty to successfully implementthe resolution and create breakthroughs in socio-economic development anddefence - security ensuring in the region./.
