Respect-paying ceremonies for President held abroad

Beijing (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy inChina held a ceremony in Beijing on September 26 to pay the last respect toPresident Tran Dai Quang.

Delivering the funeral eulogy, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi highlightedthe President’s great dedication and contributions to the Party and the nation.

In his capacity as the Head of the State during the past 29months, President Quang paid nearly 20 State-level visits and attended multilateralconferences abroad, hosted around 20 official welcome ceremonies for Kings,Emperors and heads of State to Vietnam, especially he successfully chaired theAsia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2017, the diplomat said.

He said that in different positions, the deceased made greatcontributions to the neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation betweenVietnam and China via visits and reception for visiting Chinese leaders.

Recalling his meeting with the President at the embassy, Khoisaid he remembers the leader’s sentiment and sincere attention to the embassystaff, adding that his dedication and responsibility in the capacity as head ofState have left a deep impression on the Vietnamese people, including officialsand Party members at the embassy.

On September 26, ambassadors of Laos, Cambodia, Singapore,the Philippines, Cuba, Russia, Poland, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Belgium and Canadain China offered incense and extended condolences to the embassy staff.

The embassy opened funeral book on September 26-27.

The same day, the Vietnamese embassies in India, New Zealandand Israel also held respect-paying ceremonies for the President.

President Quang passed away at10:05am on September 21 in Hanoi at the age of 62.

The two-day state funeral for thePresident began at 7am on September 26 at the National Funeral Hall, at 5 TranThanh Tong, Hanoi.

The memorial service will be heldat 7:30am on September 27 at the National Funeral Hall. The burial ceremonywill take place at 3:30pm on the same day in the President’s hometown in QuangThien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province.

Respect-paying and memorialceremonies for President Tran Dai Quang are also being held at the Thong NhatHall in Ho Chi Minh City and in village 13, Quang Thien commune, Kim Sondistrict, Ninh Binh province.–VNA
