RoK artists to perform in Hoi An

Artists from the Republic of Korea will perform in the historic city of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam as part of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival on June 11 and 12.

Quang Nam (VNA) — Artistsfrom the Republic of Korea will perform in the historic city of Hoi An in thecentral province of Quang Nam as part of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival onJune 11 and 12. The city’s Culture and Sports centresaid the art troupe of Hahoe Folk village – a UNESCO-recognised world heritagesite — will perform mask dances while the Nan-Gye troupe will play traditionalmusical instruments at An Hoi Sculpture Park on the Hoai River bank from 8pm onJune 12. The two art troupes will alsoprovide free performances at the city’s culture exchange centre, No 9 Nguyen ThaiHoc Street at 10am and 3pm on June 11 and 12. RoK artists will demonstrate theirtraditional musical instruments including string gayageum Korean (zither-like stringinstrument), geomundo, janggu drum, Phiri and Daegeun flutes. Vietnamese art troupes will alsojoin the cultural exchange performance with ca tru (ceremonial singing); hat xoan (spring singing) don ca tai tu (southern folk music) and nha nhac (Vietnamese Royal Courtmusic) on June 12. Hoi An is an UNESCO-recognised worldheritage site. The ancient port city hosted 2.6 million tourists last year, 50 percentof them foreigners.-VNA

𝔉 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
