The Republic of Korea (RoK) has proposed ambassadors of ASEAN countries to support its financial groups in boosting investment in the grouping’s member states.

The initiative was given at a meeting among chairmen of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), 11 major banks of the RoK and ambassadors of ASEAN countries in Seoul on August 24.
Speaking at the event, FSC chairman Im Chong-ryong said the RoK’s banks have increasingly provided financial support for domestic enterprises operating in ASEAN countries over the past 25 years since the establishment of the RoK and ASEAN partnership
FSS chairman Chin Ung-seop said he hopes that two sides will hold regularly such meeting. Singaporean Ambassador Yip Wei Kiat described the meeting as an opportunity to strengthen mutual understanding, and vowed to support financial cooperation between the two sides.-VNA
