Education managers and experts from the Republic of Korea (RoK) shared experience and information related to the application and development of information technology (IT) in education with their Vietnamese counterparts during a forum in Hanoi on October 29.
Co-organised by the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) and the Ministry of Education of the RoK, the event was also attended by educational experts from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Colombia and the Philippines.
In his opening speech at the forum, Deputy Minister of Education Nguyen Vinh Hien emphasised the significance of IT application in education, saying that this helps improve the quality of education, especially in reforming the teaching style of teachers and study method of students.
He spoke highly of the RoK’s development of IT application in education and training, expressing his wish that delegates from the RoK and other countries would share their experience with and support Vietnam in deploying IT projects for education.
In the framework of the Vietnam-RoK education and training co-operation programme, an IT-based pilot classroom, which is exceedingly common in the RoK, will officially be launched in the Cau Giay High School in Hanoi on October 30.
Vietnam’s education sector is actively implementing measures to apply IT in the country’s education and training. The MoET signed a cooperation agreement with Viettel - a leading telecom group - aiming to develop IT in educational establishments.
Currently, all educational institutions at all levels have access to the Internet.
The MoET is also carrying out cooperation programmes on education concerning IT application with the RoK, such as the Virtual University at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and the e-learning project at the Hanoi Open University.
Since 2005, the RoK has assisted many countries in developing e-learning education models and IT classes.-VNA
