RoK legislator affirms Vietnam’s central role in New Southern policy

Seoul (VNA) – Speaker of the National Assembly of Republic of Korea (RoK) Park Byeong-seug affirmed Vietnam is a central cooperationpartner in the RoK’s New Southern policy at a reception for VietnameseAmbassador Nguyen Vu Tung in Seoul on October 22.

The RoK top legislator welcomed the ambassador who took up the post inthe RoK at a time when bilateral ties are growing in all aspects, and the twocountries are important partners of each other in politics-security and trade-investment.People-to-people exchanges between the two countries are also expanding.  

He added that both the RoK and Vietnam are models of success incontrolling the COVID-19 pandemic, and expressed his wish to visit Vietnam, thefirst Asian country he chooses to visit as National Assembly speaker, at anearly date.

Ambassador Tung confirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to bolsteringthe Vietnam-RoK strategic cooperative partnership, especially at a time whenVietnam along with other ASEAN member countries and the RoK are activelyimplementing the New Southern policy.

He asked the RoK to continue supporting the Vietnamese community in theRoK, and pledged to do his best to promote the relationship between the twocountries./.
