Seoul (VNA) – The Republic of Korea and the Philippines signed acooperation agreement on renewable energy in Seoul on October 25.
Under the agreement, RoK businesses will participate in building renewablepower generation facilities with a total capacity of 100MW at sites under themanagement of the Philippine defence ministry. The planned power generationfacilities will run on various sources including solar, wind, water andgeothermal heat.
The project aims to supply eco-friendly electricity to military-relatedfacilities and nearby areas, helping ease power shortages in the SoutheastAsian nation.
This is the first time RoK businesses have participated in a renewable energyproject with a foreign army.
The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding on renewable energycooperation signed in June last year when Philippine President Rodrigo Dutertevisited Seoul./.
