RoK provides medical equipment to support Laos’ COVID-19 fight

The Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK) has provided walk-in testing booths and essential medical equipment worth 1 million USD for Laos in support of its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Vientiane Times.

Vientiane (VNA) – The Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK) hasprovided walk-in testing booths and essential medical equipment worth 1 millionUSD for Laos in support of its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, accordingto the Vientiane Times.

The gifts were handed over at the Lao Ministry of Health onJune 8 in presence of RoK Ambassador to Laos Im Moohong and Lao MinisterBounfeng Phommalaysith.

The newspaper quoted the Korea International CooperationAgency (KOICA) as saying that the donation is part of the Agenda for BuildingResilience against COVID-19 through the development cooperation programme underKorean Official Development Assistance.

The KOICA Office in Laos has been working in closepartnership with the government and citizens of Laos since 2020.

To date, KOICA has contributed 1.2 million USD to help Laosprevent and control the spread of coronavirus by providing personal protectiveequipment, hygiene supplies and education, and essential medical equipment.

On June 10, the Lao Health Ministry announced additionalfour infections, including two transmitted in the community and two imported.

To date, the country has recorded 1,975 cases, including 1,807recoveries and three deaths./.
