Russia, China hold fifth security talks

China and Russia held the fifth round of strategic security negotiations in Moscow on January 24 to enhance joint efforts to strengthen national, regional and international security.

The Chinese delegation, led by Chinese State Councillor Dai Bingguo,is on a visit to Russia at the invitation of the Secretary of theRussian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev.

Duringthe talks, both parties exchanged views on major international issuesand the further development of their bilateral strategic partnership.

Both agreed that their closer cooperation on globalissues has helped to maintain regional and world peace, safety andstability.

The two countries acknowledged that inorder to enhance strategic mutual trust and improve the global securitysituation, a development plan for Chinese-Russian relations for the next10 years with a strategic and comprehensive perspective should becreated.

The two sides also agreed that in the longrun, the strategic partnership must adhere to the principles of mutualtrust, two-way cooperation and friendship.

Thefourth round of Chinese-Russian security talks took place in Beijingin December 2009, when Russia and China signed a protocol oncooperation on strategic security./.
