Sailors’ health certificates extended in pandemic time

The Ministry of Health (MoH) has agreed with a proposal of the Vietnam Maritime Administration on the extension of health documents and certificates of sailors in international vessels until year’s end due to COVID-19.
Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry ofHealth (MoH) has agreed with a proposal of the Vietnam Maritime Administrationon the extension of health documents and certificates of sailors in internationalvessels until year’s end due to COVID-19.
In a dispatch issued in April, the ministrywas in favour of the extension of sailors’ health certificates for betweenthree and four months, on the basis of the documents proving their healthconditions and confirmation on their current conditions by the health officialsaboard. That extension would be valid until the endof July at the longest, it said. Given the pandemic continues to wreak havocacross the world, the MoH has agreed to maintain the mechanism until December31 for sailors who are unable to leave their ships or with valid contracts. The MoH requested the Ministry of Transportto update the information to its affiliates in an effort to create favourableconditions for sailors and maritime businesses during the pandemic period./.
