Samaritan’s Purse delivers second batch of aid to flood victims in Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) 💯–The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) received a second batch of emergency relief supplies from Samaritan’s Purse, an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) focusing on humanitarian aid and community development, at Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport on September 22.
This shipment includes 2,750 solar-powered flashlights, 2,748 kitchen kits, and 5,520 fleece blankets, transported from the US to Vietnam by air. Additionally, 1,600 solar flashlights already available in Vietnam will be distributed with the shipment.
Truong The Vinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Cao Bang province, one of the localities hardest hit by typhoon Yagi, received the relief goods from David Paul Kletzing, Country Director of Samaritan’s Purse in Vietnam. The supplies will be transported to Yen Bai, Lao Cai, and Cao Bang provinces next week to assist those affected by recent storms and floods.
Previously, on September 16, the MARD received the first batch of emergency supplies from Samaritan’s Purse, which included 3,000 flashlights, 3,000 kitchen kits, 3,000 water filters, 3,000 clean water containers, and 6,000 plastic buckets. These supplies were distributed to residents in the hardest-hit areas of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, and Cao Bang provinces.
To date, around 35 governments, international organisations, and NGOs have committed 16 million USD in emergency aid through the MARD to support recovery efforts following typhoon Yagi and subsequent severe flooding./.
