Bac Lieu (VNA)ꩲ – The Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and the "For Beloved Hoang Sa and Truong Sa" Club, in partnership with local authorities, have awarded scholarships to disadvantaged students in Bac Lieu, including children of border guard officers and those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the ceremony held in Bac Lieu city on March 25, a total of 90 scholarships worth 90 million VND (approximately 3,600 USD) were distributed. These included 35 Vu A Dinh scholarships for underprivileged ethnic minority students, 35 scholarships from the "For Beloved Hoang Sa and Truong Sa" Club for children of struggling fishermen, and 20 scholarships for children of border guard officers.
Bac Lieu province is home to more than 900,000 people, mainly Kinh, Hoa, and Khmer communities, living across the province. Local ethnic groups mainly work in salt farming, rice cultivation, livestock breeding, and aquaculture. Many families continue to face economic challenges, making educational support essential.
Each year, the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and the "For Beloved Hoang Sa and Truong Sa" Club provide around 100 scholarships to students in Bac Lieu.
Established in 1999, the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund has awarded hundreds of thousands of scholarships to students from ethnic minority and island communities.
Beyond financial aid, the fund has also launched long-term initiatives to invest in young generations from remote and coastal areas./.
