Hanoi (VNA) –𝐆 More than 200 students of the Hy Vong (Hope) Boarding School in central Da Nang city, which was initiated by FPT Corporation for children orphaned by the COVID-19 pandemic, joined a ceremony to celebrate the International Children's Day on June 1.

The Children's Day this year is special for both teachers and guests who attended the event, as they witnessed remarkable positive changes of the students after just one year of studying at the school. No more timidity and sadness in their eyes, their faces show confidence and radiant smiles.

Special experience

The event, which featured various meaningful activities, saw the participation of domestic and international guests. The students were very excited to interact with US volunteers teaching English. They were also thrilled by the magic performance by Kito Makoto, who came from Japan. Kito Makoto has been passionate about magic since he was 8 years old, the same age as students at the Hy Vong School. He has been performing for children in Japan for many years. This was the first time Kito performed for the young students at a special school like the Hy Vong. “I feel very happy when I bring smiles to the students,” Kito Makoto said. During the programme, students had an exchange with master chef Nguyen Trong Thin –the owner of the famous Pho Thin brand. The master chef personally cooked and treated the students to his signature dish. The students were thrilled to enjoy the distinctive dish of Hanoi. A concert performed by artists from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra was arranged in the framework of the event under the baton of Conductor Honna Tetsuji. The programme was organised under the coordination of Sompo Japan Insurance Inc in Vietnam. The concert was part of a project which uses music to heal the wounds of students at the Hy Vong School funded by the Sompo Welfare Fund of Sompo Japan Insurance Inc, on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the Vietnam-Japan relationship. It left a deep impression on the students, teachers, and guests. After just one year, the pain inflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic for the students seems to have healed. Their innocent eyes sparkle with joy, and they were beaming with pleasure. The change does not solely come from the efforts by teachers, but also from the children themselves. They have come to understand that they are always embraced with love and care by the community. On the occasion, a “Hoa Hy Vong” club was established, aiming to provide a creative playground for the students, enabling them to maximise their ability.
