Hanoi (VNA) -𝓀 Ensuring security and order must contribute to expanding space for development and strongly promoting investment, production, and business activities; create the most favourable conditions for all lawful activities, thus boosting the national growth and improving people's lives, said Party General Secretary To Lam at a conference on December 17.

Addressing the Central Public Security Party Committee (CPSPC)’s conference to review its leadership in implementing political tasks in 2024, and set out directions for 2025, the Party chief called for strong renovation in the mindset of national security protection, thus changing methods to collect information and provide strategic advice to the Party and the State, and implement measures to maintain security and order. The focus must be on both firmly protecting national security early and from afar and fully tapping opportunities, turning challenges into opportunities for national development, and constantly strengthening national defence and security capabilities, he noted.
The public security force must continue to set an example and take the lead in implementing the Party's policies, first and foremost by spearheading the implementation of the Politburo's Resolution on national digital transformation, combating wastefulness, and addressing environmental pollution; and must further advance reforms to streamline its apparatus, he noted. He ordered the force to monitor the situation and give strategic advice to the Party and the State on issues regarding both traditional and non-traditional security; identify opportunities for development, push back the risk of lagging behind in strategic technologies, digital transformation, and green transition, and increase Vietnam's contributions to regional and global peace.
Special attention should be paid to safeguarding national security, absolutely not stay passive and surprised in any situation; and creating significant improvements in social order and safety, he said, adding that the force must dedicate full efforts and resources to ensure absolute security and safety for the Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress. The nation is facing new opportunities besides challenges and difficulties, hence the key tasks set by the CPSPC for 2025 and the following years require a high political determination and scientific working methods, the Party leader stressed, expressing his belief that with its tradition of solidarity, firm mettle, and the spirit of daring to think, speak, act, and take responsibility, the committee and the entire people's public security force will undoubtedly fulfill their work programme for 2025./.
