Theresolution, promulgated by the government on February 6, 2017, aims to improve thebusiness climate and national competitiveness with orientations to 2020.
Participantssaid firms could save 800 million USD annually if time for customs clearance isreduced by one day, and another 4 billion USD each year if logistics cost iscut by 1 percent.
Severalexporters voiced concern that they have not received sampling results for morethan one year, making it hard for them to bring products onto the market. As ofresult, they have incurred losses and been left with high inventories.
Respondingto this matter, Nguyen Thi Mai Huong from the Directorate for Standards, Metrologyand Quality suggested separating State management from quality assessmentunits’ activities and simplifying procedures for licensing certificates ofconformity to imports, among others.
Shesaid it is necessary to reach a set of capacity standards for qualityassessment units to avoid wastefulness.
Theevent was co-hosted by the Central Institute for Economic Management and the USAgency for International Development (USAID)’s Governance for Inclusive Growthprogramme. - VNA
