Hanoi (VNA)ꦍ – The 15th National Assembly’sfirst session entered the seventh working day in Hanoi on July 26 under thechair of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
After electing the State President by secret ballots in themorning, NA Secretary General Bui Van Cuong presented the draft Resolution onthe election of the State President. As a result, all 483 deputiespresent voted yes to the resolution, or 96.79 percent of the total number of lawmakers.

Presided over by NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai, thelegislature also discussed the approval of 2019 State budget settlement, and thriftpractice and wastefulness prevention in 2020 in the plenary session. Fourteendeputies offered their opinions on reports by the Government, the NA’sFinance-Budget Committee and the State Audit Office. Finance Minister Ho Duc Phoc also explained several issuesraised by lawmakers.
Under the chair of NA Chairman Hue, State President Nguyen XuanPhuc presented a proposed list of candidates for the election of PrimeMinister, Vice State President, Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court and ProsecutorGeneral of the Supreme People’s Procuracy.
♓ In the afternoon, all 479 present lawmakers, or 95.99 percent ofthe total, adopted a Resolution on the election of the Prime Minister.

Legislators also ratified Resolutions on the election of theVice State President, Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court and ProsecutorGeneral of the Supreme People’s Procuracy. A swearing-ceremony where Chief Judge of the Supreme People’sCourt Nguyen Hoa Binh took oaths was also televised nationwide. The legislature also discussed in groups about the number ofGovernment members and proposed personnel for the Supreme People’s Court. As scheduled on July 27, the NA will look into investmentpolicies in the National Target Programme on Sustainable Poverty Reduction andthe National Target Programme on New-style Rural Development for the 2021-2025period. In the afternoon, they are due to discuss in a plenary session the2021-2025 national financial plan and public debt payment, the mid-term publicinvestment plan for 2021-2025. They are also scheduled to adopt resolutions on the 2021-2025 socio-economicdevelopment plan, the 2022 programme on law and ordinance building, and theestablishment of the NA’s thematic supervision teams for 2022./.
