Several localities agree with resumption of domestic flights

Hanoi (VNA) – A number of localities haveagreed with the Transport Ministry’s draft plan on resuming domestic flights followingthe relaxation of social distancing measures.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CCAV)sought opinions of 19 cities and provinces on the plan, comprising Ho Chi MinhCity, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Can Tho, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Dien Bien, ThuaThien-Hue, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, Phu Yen, BinhDinh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang and Ca Mau.
The HCM City People’s Committee on October 4 sent adocument to the CCAV, basically agreeing with the draft plan.
Such provinces as Binh Dinh, Dien Bien and Phu Yenhave also expressed their approval for the resumption.
In a document sent to the CCAV on October 4, theHanoi People’s Committee said the agency should launch flights to/from Noi BaiInternational Airport once receiving written agreements of the People’sCommittees of Hanoi and its adjacent cities and provinces.
The CCAV suggested resuming 385 round-trip flightsper day, with 18 air routes to HCM City (132 flights) and 10 others to thecentral city of Da Nang./.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has proposed to the Ministry of Transport a plan to re-open domestic air routes with a pilot period of four weeks.
Domestic flights began to officially resume on October 1 under a four-phase plan outlined by the Ministry of Transport, which is applied in localities with relaxed COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines is finalising steps to get its fleet ready to return to the sky when many domestic flights are to be resumed in early October.
