Singapore (VNA)𒊎 – The Port of Singapore was named "Best Seaport inAsia" for the 29th time at the 2017 Asia Freight, Logistics and SupplyChain Awards (AFLAS) held in the country on June 29, reported the StraitsTimes.

China'sHong Kong Special Administrative Region and Shanghai city were the two otherfinalists in the "Best Seaport in Asia" category of AFLAS awards thisyear. TheSingapore port won for its leading performance on a range of criteria,according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. It saidthe criteria include cost competitiveness, container shipping-friendly feeregime, provision of suitable container shipping-related infrastructure, timelyand adequate investment in new infrastructure to meet future demand as well asthe facilitation of ancillary services. TheAFLAS awards is organised by freight and logistics publication Asia Cargo Newsand are conferred based on votes cast by Asia Cargo News readers.-VNA
