Singapore (VNA) –
The Singapore’sGovernment has set up a task force to prevent fires caused by personal mobilitydevices (PMDs).

The force is co-chaired by the Singapore CivilDefence Force and the Land Transport Authority.

It will pool resources and share expertise andinformation between the involved agencies.

In the first half of this year alone, there were54 reported fires linked to PMDs, injuring 31 people. There were 52 such firesreported in the whole of last year. 

Nearly 90,000 electric scooters had beenregistered in Singapore, with only 10 percent declared UL2272-compliant, asafety standard that will reduce the risk of fires.-VNA
