Singapore and the United Kingdom (UK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 21 to boost cooperation in intellectual property (IP) and trade.

The MoU between the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and the UK IP Office will promote international cooperation between the two agencies on issues related to copyrights, patents, brands and creation.

The UK IP Office Minister, Baroness Neville Rolfe, said the MoU would allow the UK and Singapore to share the best experience in fields such as the protection of IP rights, research studies involving IP rights and procedures at the court concerning intellectual property.

Tan Yih San, Chief Executive of the IPOS, said the document reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to boosting inter-border cooperation and providing a convenient IP system for enterprises and creators who want to develop in the UK as well as in ASEAN.

According to 𒈔the IPOS, the MoU also promotes the Singapore-UK Economic Partnership Agreement in exchanging economic experts between the two agencies while underlining the importance🌱 of IP in creating a safe business environment within the Southeast Asian region.-VNA
