Sound legal framework urged for communication sector

The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) should review policies and plans in order to create a favourable legal framework for the rapid and sustainable development of the information and communication sector.
The Ministry of Information andCommunications (MIC) should review policies and plans in order tocreate a favourable legal framework for the rapid and sustainabledevelopment of the information and communication sector.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the request while attending theministry’s meeting to deploy tasks for 2010 in Hanoi on January 15.

He also urged the ministry to urgently complete a project to developVietnam into a strong nation in IT and communication to submit to thegovernment for approval. The scheme should focus on building favourablemechanisms for human resource and IT infrastructure development.

In addition, there should be plans for the application of IT to Statemanagement and the formation of strong groups for the sector.

The Government leader praised the whole sector’s efforts in maintaininggrowth and modernising IT and communication infrastructure.

The building of institutions, laws, and policies has much improved,helping create a favourable environment for information andcommunication activities and raise the effectiveness of statemanagement, he said, adding that the press and publishing have played amajor role in raising the public’s awareness about measures to curbinflation, stabilise the macro economy, maintain the growth and ensuresocial security.

PM Dung asked the MIC to continue coordinating with the press toprovide full and timely information on the Party and State’s policiesas well as counter wrong opinions.

The MIC has set several groups of solutions for 2010, includingspeeding up the building of projects, draft laws and legal documentsand the implementation of IT application and e-government, furtherstrengthening state management on press and publishing work as well asboosting human resource development./.
