Special mechanism needed for Hai Phong to reach further

Hai Phong (VNA)– Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on May 3 agreed that there should be aspecial mechanism for the northern port city of Hai Phong to reach further inits development.
At a working sessionwith leading officials in the city, he assigned ministries and authorities tostudy and help the Government work out such a mechanism at an early date.
The PM highlightedthat Hai Phong achieved the highest Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growthin Vietnam with 14.9 percent while that of the whole country was only 3.82percent. He also spoke highly of the city’s creative and resolute measures inthe COVID-19 fight.
The leader alsostressed that authorities must not be subjective in the fight which must becarried out along with the socio-economic development.
About strategicdevelopment strategies for Hai Phong, PM Phuc pointed out that sea-basedeconomy, high-level industry and tourism must be the three strategic pillars ofthe city from now to 2045, adding that it must become a smart and modern city.
As for the tasks forthe city in the rest of this year, the leader said Hai Phong must shoulder theheavy responsibility of the pioneer and an important growth extreme of thecountry. The city’s development goals are not changed even in the context ofthe pandemic, he stressed.
PM Phuc recommendedthat Hai Phong implement concerted measures so as to create a more favourablebusiness environment and push up the private economic sector. He also expressedhis belief that with its firm determination and creativeness, Hai Phong willachieve the goal of fighting the COVID-19 and boosting socio-economicdeveloment at the same time.
The city should alsopay attention to the organisation of the Party congresses at various levelstowards the 13th National Congress of the Party, he leaderconcluded./.
