Hanoi (VNA) – State President Luong Cuong attended an art performance progra🐎mme themed “Spring in border areas warms people's hearts” to celebrate the 95th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and welcome the Lunar New Year of 2025 (the Year of the Snake), in Pa Tan commune in Sin Ho district of the northern mountainous province of ✃Lai Chau on January 9 evening.
Hosted by the Border Guard Command in collaboration with the provincial People's Committee and Vietnam Television, the event aims to support ethnic minority communities in border and island areas in celebrating a warmer, more joyful and well-off Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.
It served as a vivid testament to the solidarity between the military and the people, reflecting the deep bond between the Vietnam People's Army and ethnic minority groups, helping to build the firm postures of people's determination, and protecting the country's borders.

In his speech at the event, State President Cuong expressed his deep impression and emotion upon knowing that during the Lunar New Year of 2025, along with the critical mission of firmly safeguarding territorial sovereignty and maintaining security and order in border areas, border guard officers and soldiers in the locality have been closely coordinating with the provincial Party Committees and administrations at all levels, and sectors to ensure a warm and joyful Tet celebration for people in border areas.
He hailed efforts made by the provincial Border Guards for implementing many practical, effective, and humane initiatives, programmes, models and movements, creating a positive impact on society, especially the “Spring in border areas warms people's hearts” programme with many specific activities, which has mobilised the participation, collaboration, and contributions of numerous agencies, organisations, and individuals from the central to local levels.
The State President affirmed that among the nation’s great and proud achievements, there are important contributions from the Party committee, administrations and people of all ethnic groups, and the armed forces, the Border Guard Command, and border officers and soldiers of Lai Chau in general, and Sin Ho district in particular.
He urged the Party committees and administrations at all levels, sectors, and forces of Lai Chau to focus on leading, guiding, and thoroughly implementing the Party’s policies and the State’s laws; especially maintaining and upholding achievements and strengths, decisively addressing shortcomings in 2024, proactively resolving challenges and obstacles, to successfully implement tasks set for 2025.
State President Cuong asked the provincial Border Guards to uphold its core and specialised role in managing and firmly safeguarding the country’s territorial sovereignty and border security; and contribute to building prosperous, peaceful, stable, friendly, cooperative and developed border areas.
On this occasion, the State leader presented 200 houses worth 10 billion VND (over 394,000 USD) in total to residents in local border areas, and 11 gift packages to policy beneficiary families in Pa Tan commune.
According to the programme’s organisers, the total value of donations from people across the country for border areas nationwide through the programme is nearly 25 billion VND (985,000 USD)./.

As the Lunar New Year 2025 is approaching, various initiatives across Vietnam have delivered support to underprivileged families, fostering the festive spirit of solidarity and care.
State President Luong Cuong visited and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of Bat Mot Border Guard Station in the central province of Thanh Hoa on December 4, as part of his working trip to meet with voters following the 15th National Assembly’s 8th session.
