A 21-gun salute was accorded to Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his spouse in front of the Presidential Palace in Hanoi on November 5.
The ceremony, the highest ritual for a Head of State, was chaired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his spouse.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping later inspected guards of honour and their parade.
Hanoi children waved flags and flowers welcoming the Chinese leader, his spouse and entourage.
Following the welcome ceremony, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held talks with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping at the headquarters of the Party Central Committee.-VNA
The two-day State visit to Vietnam by Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping marks a milestone in the relations between the two countries.
