Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Stringent measures to prevent the resurgence of COVID-19 infections have been put in place along theThai-Malaysian border, especially blocking natural entry channels.

Tha Kham in Waeng district, Narathiwat province, is one of theareas along the Su-ngai Kolok River, where illegal border crossings are highlyprobable. Military and police officers, together with the Narathiwat Task Forceand villagers, are keeping a close watch on the area, around the clock.

The Commander of the Thepsatri Task Force, Maj. Gen. SantiSakunnak, this week visited officers on patrol in Su-ngai Kolok and Tak Baidistricts, and patrolled the Su-ngai Kolok River to inspect border securityoperations along the 30-kilometer course.

Maj. Gen. Santi instructed military personnel to monitor thesituation closely, protect themselves and be prepared to prevent illegalimmigration and other illegal activities at any time.

He said Thai and Malaysian authorities have been workingtogether well, and have arrested drug traffickers. Meanwhile, all vesselsdocking at Thai ports must be inspected to prevent migrant workers fromillegally entering the country. The military is working with the Thai MarinePolice Division and the administrative sector to control the situation./.
