Thai Nguyen  (VNA) – The “clean environment day” campaign was kicked off on December 4 at the two primary schools in Song Cong city, the northern province of Thai Nguyen in the presence of Helena Bathammar, Mayor of Sweden’s Linkoping city

At the launching ceremony, approximately 1,000 students of the Ly Tu Trong and Cai Dan primary schools were provided with lessons on environmental issues. They learned on the importance of environment protection, health effects of pollution and simple ways they can do to clean up the environment.

Earlier, the delegation from Linkoping city, led by Mayor Helena, had a working session with the provincial authorities on a Sweden-funded project to improve local infrastructure for waste and waste water treatment.

The two sides discussed the implementation of the project next year and ways to make local residents involved in the project in the long term.

They also talked about the establishment of cooperation between relevant ♋bodies to keep the work after the t🐬wo-year project finishes in 2016, exchanges on environmental issues between schools in the two localities, and support for a biogas centre in Thai Nguyen.-VNA
