Tech start-up festival launches in Hanoi

Start-up opportunities will be broadened for technology aficionados and young scientists as TECHFEST Vietnam 2015, a technology start-up event, kicked off in Hanoi on May 15.
Start-up opportunities will be broadened for technology aficionadosand young scientists as TECHFEST Vietnam 2015, a technology start-upevent, kicked off in Hanoi on May 15.

The event was co-organisedby the National Agency for Technology Entrepreneurship andCommercialisation Development (NATEC) under Ministry of Science andTechnology, the Vietnam Digital Communication Association and theVietnam National University - Hanoi (VNUH).

The event, the firstof its kind, has drawn the participation of over 50 investors and 30venture funds such as CyberAgents Ventures, IDG Ventures and GoldenGates Ventures. There are over 50 science-technology start-upenterprises showcasing their products and connecting investments.

Numerousprogrammes are scheduled at the event, including exhibitions andworkshops on international experience with start-ups, innovations andtechnology market potentials.

A start-up competition calledStart-up Discovery will be also held, presenting a chance for Vietnamesestart-ups to bring their creative products in front of internationalinvestors.

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
