Tenth Thai Festival slated for mid-September in Hanoi

Hanoi (VNA)– The 10th Thai Festival will be held at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi from September15-16, the Thai Embassy in Vietnam announced at a press conference on August31.

According to WanthaneeViputwongsakul, Charge d’Affaires from Embassy of Thailand, the festival aimsto further bolster the bilateral relationship between Thailand and Vietnam,while also promoting people-to-people diplomacy.

She said that shehopes the event will be a good chance for Thailand to introduce many aspects ofits beautiful country, from unique cuisine to traditional arts and Muay Thai –Thailand’s traditional martial art.

The diplomat said thatthe ninth festival in 2017 raised 507.66 million VND for the Vietnam Fund for Childrenand the Vietnam Association of Agent Orange Victims of Hanoi. This year, allrevenue from the festival will also be presented to social organisations inVietnam.

This year, thefestival will draw some 50 enterprises from northeastern localities of Thailandwho will introduce some of the typical products from their region. Thaicompanies and importers operating in Vietnam in many areas – such as food, beverages,consumer goods, tourism, and aviation – will also participate in the event.

Famous Thai chefs willjoin the event to offer visitors various Thai dishes. Visitors to the festivalwill have an opportunity to enjoy traditional dances performed by both Thaidancers and Vietnamese students.

The Muay Thaiperformances are also one of the festival’s top highlights. –VNA
