Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand’s Constitutional Court issued a ruling to dismiss Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin from his position for violating the Constitution in his appointment of cabinet members.

The court's ruling also indicated that Srettha had breached ethical standards.

The petition against Srettha was initiated by a group of former senators who claimed he violated the Thai Constitution by appointing a former lawyer who served jail time.

Following the dismissal, the Thai House of Representatives will need to convene to elect a new prime minister./.
