Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand’s general election must be carried out based onregulations and the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)’s decrees, ThaiPrime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said on February 27.
After registration on March 1, new political parties can organise meetings todiscuss important issues like parties’ charters, he stated, noting that apartfrom that any activity will need to receive approval by the NCPO.
After the bills on the election of members of parliaments and the selection ofsenators are passed in March, they will be submitted for royal endorsement. Thelaws are expected to come into effect in June, after which the 150-daycountdown to the election will begin, the government leader said.
Earlier, he said that the general election will be held no later than February2019, three months later than the deadline he previously announced.
