Thai Festival 2018 opens in Hanoi, featuring diverse culture

Hanoi (VNA) – The 10th Thai Festival kicked off at LyThai To Monument area by Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi on September 15, with freeentry offered to visitors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony,Charge d’affaires at the Thai Embassy in Vietnam Wanthanee Viputwongsakul saidthat the two-day festival aims to not only enhance people-to-people exchangesbut also introduce every aspect of Thailand to Vietnamese friends through diverseculture, delectable cuisine, and art performances.

Visitors to the festival have achance to enjoy traditional dances, beautiful destinations, Thai street foodand contemplate Muay Thai (Thai boxing).

The event has attracted 50businesses based in the north-eastern region of Thailand, all companies andimporters operating in Vietnam and travel agents. They are presenting theirproducts and look for chances to find partners.

The proceeds from the event willbe donated to charity organisations in Vietnam.

Last year, over 500 million VND(21,800 USD) was donated to the National Fund for Vietnamese Children and HanoiAssociation for Victims of Agent Orange.

The Thai embassy, Thai privatecompanies and the Thai community in Vietnam are jointly organising thefestival.-VNA
