- Thailand's Minister of Commerce Sonthirat Sonthijirawong has voiced confidence that Thai Hom Mali Rice exports to Hong Kong will continue to grow this year after reaching over 200,000 tonnes last year. 

Sonthirat Sonthijirawong referenced a report, from the Hong Kong office of the Department of Foreign Trade Promotion, which says that Thailand exported 206,153 tonnes of Hom Mali rice to Hong Kong in 2017, up 10.18 percent year-on-year and the first time in 10 years exports have exceeded 200,000 tonnes. 

In 2018, demand has remained high despite the price of the rice remaining above 1,000 USD per tonne. It is expected that sales will increase this year to a target of 215,000 tonnes. - VNA
