Bangkok (VNA) – The government of Thailand has rolled out furtherstimulus measures intended to inject about 144 billion baht (4.76 billion USD)into the economy to boost full-year economic growth to 2.8 percent.
♐ Local media quoted Thai Finance MinisterUttama Savanayana as saying that the cabinet approved the Finance Ministry’spackage which comprises of three measures after it was predicted that theglobal economy is likely to remain in a state of flux and exert furtherpressure on Thailand.
The aim is to boost the economy duringthe remainder of this year and the first quarter of next year, Uttama said. He said the Thai government expects themeasures to propel full-year economic growth to 2.8 percent from a projectionof 2.6 percent recently announced by the National Economic and SocialDevelopment Council (NESDC). On November 18, the NESDC reported theeconomy grew 2.4 percent year-on-year in the third quarter, driven mainly byincreases in private and government consumption and investment, slightlyimproving from the 2.3 percent year-on-year in the second quarter but lowerthan the 2.8 percent in the first quarter./.
