Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - The Prime Minister of Thailand has presidedover a launch ceremony for the ‘Youth Build the Nation’ campaign, where heasked younger people to help preserve national institutions and use theirknowledge for national development.
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha delivered his remarks to students at theceremony, saying that the country is now going through transformations,involving the global economy and national security, while the government has alreadyissued national strategy and reform policies to determine the direction inwhich the country going.
He said human resources is a key area that needs development to enhance bothcapabilities and ethics, which will require education reform, starting withlearning in communities, while His Majesty the King has expressed his wish forstudents and teachers to have better knowledge of their local communities, inorder to adapt their knowledge for community development.
The Youth Build the Nation campaign is comprised of three key activities. Thefirst is a voluntary student campaign where 3rd and 4th year universitystudents get to engage in local development projects for 4-5 months. The secondis a graduate volunteer campaign where those who have graduated for no longerthan 3-4 years can join local development projects to help promote socialchanges. The third is a youth startup fund, where participating youth in thevolunteering graduates campaign can use this fund to develop local communityenterprises. The fund will initially be available in Kalasin province, wheremany villagers are suffering from poverty./.
