Hanoi (VNA) - Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ochatold the media on February 27 that a general election he had promised to holdin November would take place no later than February 2019.

The Thai junta has postponed elections several times sinceit came to power following a coup in 2014.

The latest date was set for November 2018 but last month,the military-appointed legislature changed the election law, signaling afurther delay.

On February 22, the National Legislative Assembly voted downall candidates for the new Election Commission (EC), a move that will force thesearch process to start anew.

The search for new EC members must complete within 90days.-VNA
