Bangkok,  (VNA) – Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn onFebruary 8 held that the nomination of his elder sister by a political partyfor the position of the Prime Minister if it wins the upcoming election is improperand unconstitutional.

Earlier the same day, Thai Raksa Chart, the political partyclose to former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, nominated PrincessUbolratana as its only candidate for the position if it wins the electionslated for March 24.

For her part, the Princess the same day stated that she isimplementing her citizen’s right as she accepted the nomination by a politicalparty. On her personal Instagram account, the 67-year-old Princess said sheabandons her royal status and lives as a common citizen.

She further added that her acceptance of the nomination manifests the right and freedom without any privilege over other Thaicitizens within the framework of the provisions by the Constitution.-VNA
