Bangkok (VNA)🥀 – Thailand’s national flag carrier Thai Airways International (THAI)and the Airbus Industries on March 8 inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) tojointly evaluate the feasibility of a new maintenance, repair and overhaulfacility at U-Tapao Airport in eastern Thailand.

Addressingthe signing ceremony, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak lauded thecooperation as a dream coming true. The Deputy PrimeMinister appealed to the two sides to promptly complete the feasible studywithin one year and move on to a public-private partnership for the implementationof the project. He added that a chain of economic activities will be launchedin the upcoming one and two years as a result of the cooperation, especially inthe East – West Economic Corridor. Acting President ofTHAI Usanee Sangsingkaew said that the inking of the MoU is part of Thailand’sambitious plan to become a maintenance hub for the region and for airlinesacross the region and beyond.-VNA
