Hanoi (VNA) - Thai Royal Police on March 24announced temporary closure of borders with Myanmar and Malaysia adjacent toThailand's deep southern provinces to contain the COVID-19 epidemic.

Deputy spokesman of the Thai Royal Police KritsanaPattanacharoen said from 0:00 on March 24, the provinces of Songkhla, Satun,Yala, Narathiwat, and Ranong will be temporarily sealed, adding that people ofall nationalities, including Thais, will not be allowed to cross the border.

However, the measures will spare cargo trucks passingthrough designated border checkpoints, and only one person is allowed on eachtruck, he said.

Meanwhile, Chak Daeng temple in Thailand, famous for acampaign led by its environmentally
conscious abbot, is about to produce face masks from 15tonnes of plastic bottles it receives every month.

On March 23, a spokesperson of the Thai Ministry of Public Health confirmed 106more infection cases and three deaths, bringing the total to 827 with fourdeaths./.
