Speaking after a meeting with commanders of thethree armed forces of the North, Central and Northeast regions, GenWorapong said the withdrawal will be carried out according to plans.

Atpresent, the government of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha plans tonegotiate with insurgent groups operating in the three southernprovinces.

Thailand’s southernmost region, including three borderprovinces and four districts of Songkhla province, has experiencedunstable condition due to continuous violence since January 2004.

Accordingto statistics of Thailand’s army, violence in the country’s southernareas has caused over 6,000 deaths and injured 10,600 people over thepast decade.-VNA
