Bangkok (VNA) – A small bomb explodedin Ratchadamnoen Avenue in downtown Bangkok capital city of Thailand on April 5evening, wounding two street cleaners.

Police said the bomb went off at 8:00 pm when thecleaners were emptying rubbish bins in front of the former headquarters of thegovernment lottery agency.

They added that the bomb was detonated bylow-yield gunpowder, which caused minor damage. They also neutralised anotherbomb found near the blast.

It's not an act of terrorism or an act to stirunrest, national police chief General Chakthip Chaijinda said. 

The blast occurred on the eve of Thailand’senactment of the new constitution and a public holiday marking the 235thanniversary of the Chakri Dynasty’s reign. - VNA
