The Thai Ministry of Commerce unveiled six strategies on September 14 to boost sustainable export growth. The strategies focus on cross-border trade; developing industrial clusters; prioritising promising markets like China, India and the United States; resolving trade barriers; improving human resources quality; increasing the effectiveness of trade fairs; and taking advantage of e-commerce.
Thailand’s Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantrporn chaired a meeting the same day with Thai overseas trade officials located in 60 countries worldwide who were assigned to promote the country’s foreign trade and build brand names for Thai products globally.
Thai export has sunk 3 percent this year due to negative trends in the global economy and the nation’s political instability. The move was designed to spur export growth in the remaining months of this year as well as looking forward to next year.-VNA
