Thailand's Ministry of Commerce has registered more than 100 products for Geographical Indication (GI), representingg over four billion baht in commercial value, following the Prime Minister’s policy to create value-added local products.

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand's Ministry of Commerce has registered more than 100products for Geographical Indication (GI), representingg over four billion bahtin commercial value, following the Prime Minister’s policy to createvalue-added local products. 

PermanentSecretary for Commerce Chutima Boonyaprapat said that the Department ofIntellectual Property is organizing an event to celebrate Thailand’s success inhaving 103 products from 67 provinces registered for GI, creating more thanfour billion baht in commercial value. The event will discuss the history ofGeographical Indication and give out awards to outstanding GI products. 

GI Market 2019will be held on April 1 - 7 at Central Bangna. More than 60 stores of selectedGI products from various communities across the nation will be included in themarket. The public would be able to support local products, which can helpdrive the growth of the grassroots economy.–NNT/VNA
