Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Schools in Mae Sot district of Tak province, northernThailand, are now closed for a week, making the district the highest controlledarea declared by the provincial governor following the discovery of newCOVID-19 cases.
Schools and nurseries under the supervision of the Mae Sot City Municipality,the local primary education district, as well as private schools in the areaare now closed from today, but are scheduled to reopen on February 15.
This sudden closure of schools is because of the continuous spread of COVID-19reported in the area. All class activities are now moved online during theperiod of school closures.
With other schools now closed, Sappha Wittaya School which is the high schooleducational hub of Mae Sot district remains open, with some classes arrangedonline to ease crowding at the school. Strict public health measures are being implementedat the campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
According to the Tak Provincial Public Health Office, 24 cases of COVID-19 havebeen reported since the beginning of this month in Tak province./.
