The ministry’s Spokesman Sek Wannamethi saidmany Cambodian workers have travelled back to their country since theywere panicked over the rumors that the Thai government would arrest themand their employers have feared that they would face legal actions fromhiring illegal workers.

The Thai government enforced laws asusual without cracking down on illegal workers, especially those fromCambodia , he said, adding that the government has helped take a lot ofillegal Cambodian workers to border crossings without pressing chargesagainst them.

The government is ready to investigate theallegations that Thai officers had violated human rights of illegalworkers in order to provide justice for all sides and punish thewrongdoers, said the spokesman.

The National Council for Peace and Order is trying to legalise illegal alien workers in Thailand , he added.-VNA
